Edit Tiff Files

at its best!

You can edit RAW and TIFF files in PhotoPerfect. The RAW format means that an image has not been altered by the camera after a photograph has been taken. PhotoPerfect can perform all the necessary post-processing. However, not all cameras allow you to specify RAW mode.

To ensure that no information is lost, files of these image formats are processed in 16 bit mode. This mode contains a sort of User Dialog, which is specially adapted to the RAW processing functions. To distinguish these functions from the conventional equivalents they are named thus: [FunctionName]16. Further, these functions provide wider adjustment ranges.

RAW files are indicated in the thumbnail view by a light green border. When one of these RAW files is selected the 16 bit mode is started. This enables the files to be edited with the most important functions in the original quality. Normally, the individual editing steps are applied to the image with Accept. The image is only converted to 8 bit format when the dialog is terminated with Execute. In this way the processing ensures that as little data as possible is lost in processing. If you wish to maintain the highest possible quality (i.e. data volume), you can do this using 'Extended/Save as 16 bit TIFF image'. Note, however, that PhotoPerfect does not store Exif data in the TIFF format.

The most recently used editing steps are stored so that they can be used on the next image if required. You can also store the editing steps as a separate file.

16 bit mode is also available for processing 16 bit TIFF files and in the function Merge Images.
