Single- vs. multi-processor version
If you bought your computer in 2005 or later, it is very likely that your CPU supports Hyperthreading or contains a Dual-Core unit, thus is treated by Windows 2000, XP or Vista like a multi-processor system. Nonetheless, even if you should choose the "wrong" version to download, the downside is just a slight underperformance in CPU-intensive functions of PhotoPerfect. You can also fix the mistake anytime by downloading and installing the other version. Please read also the following explanation for more details."
Multi-processor version
Please choose this version if you are using either a multi-processor or a multi-core system like e.g. Intel® Core™2 Duo or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2. This version of our software will be able to utilize the processing power of both CPUs resulting in faster performance. Please notice, that if you install this version on a single-processor system, PhotoPerfect will work correctly but suffer a performance hit compared to the correct single-processor version installation (appr. -10%).
Single-processor version
If you are using a single-processor system like e.g. Intel® Pentium® 3 or AMD Athlon™ XP, we recommend to install this version. Please notice, that if you use the single-processor version on a multi-processor system, PhotoPerfect works correctly but will use the processing power of one CPU only and thus might not fully exploit the performance potential of your computer.
