Default Crash during batchprocessing

Hi ,

a lot of photos i made during hollidays and i wanted to process them automated in PhotoPerfect.
So, i selected the pictures and batchprocessing with Perfectly Clear and Save with a new name.

Then sometimes immediately after start of batchprocessing and sometimes after a while the program crashes.
In Fixfoto (2.84 / English) occurs the same.
Only Fixfoto comes up with an message of access violation (see attachement).

What is going wrong here ?

I am an registered user of FixFoto with Perfectly Clear, I2E and now also of PhotoPerfect.

Regards
Kees

Hi Kees,

Thank you for contacting us. Could you please tell us some more details about your system, like e.g. OS, CPU and amount of RAM. How large are your pictures ? What version of PhotoPerfect are you using ? - The single-core or multiple-core one? We need these details, in order to be able to reproduce this error.

Thanks for your cooperation

Hoang-Tran

Hi,

the version of PhotoPerfect is 2.85 and i use it with XP-home v2002 + SP2
on a Dell D505 / Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz and have 1.5G of Ram.
FixFoto is the latest English version 2.84 b102. Both PP and FF singlecore.
My photos are on a external USB HDD Samsung HM 120JC USB Device.

I noticed that the problem occurs in the most times when the picturenames are not sequential.
My image names are (e.g) IMG_2693.JPG.
When i batchprocessing for instance the pictures IMG_2693.JPG, IMG_2694.JPG, IMG_2696.JPG,
IMG_2697.JPG and IMG_2698.JPG (notice the numbersequence) then
the batchprocess will stuck and program crashes after processing IMG_2694.JPG.

Pictures are about 1.5 till 2 Mb.

I hope you can tell more with this info.

Regards
Kees

Hi Kees,

we could not reproduce your issue on several test systems with both Windows Vista and XP. No single crash occurs, neither with sequential file names nor with not sequential ones. Thus we assume that this might be a system specific issue. According to our experience, sometimes security software might interference with the batch processing (= BP). Please try to temporarily deactivate them during BP or even better to mark/define PhotoPerfect as safe e.g. in your firewall or antivirus program. In most cases this should help.

Occasionally faulty (Exif) header in some JPEG files could also generate a crash in combination with Perfectly Clear - according to a few user reports. In this case removing the Exif header of the corresponding image prior/during the BP with an additional step or converting the faulty JPEG files to another file format e.g. .BMP with another batch before applying your original BP with Perfectly Clear help also.

As we are currently not in possession of any faulty JPEG file yet, you would do us a great favor if you could send us one of such.

Regards

Hoang-Tran
